Shimano has been a reliable manufacturer of rotating drums for almost fifty years. One of the most popular models Shimano has ever made is the Stradic model, a reliable and affordable spinning reel for draft horses.
The FK models take this concept to a new level of performance of the rotary drum, but it is interesting enough that the price has not risen with the technology. For you, this means that the Shimano Stradic FK is the best chance to enjoy the highest coil quality ever achieved.
In this document we will examine the pros and cons of coils, some of the most important features of the Stradic FK models, and we will also look in more detail at how these features affect fishing performance.
We also have some alternative recommendations for you to choose from at the end of this article.

Straight functions FC
If you own older Shimano Stradic models, you will immediately notice some of the aesthetic differences between them and the latest Shimano Stradic model.
Further away from the surface lie the biggest differences of the new Stradic FK models.
The Stradic FK reel offers most of Shimano’s patented spinning technologies, and they shine when the reel is running.
The Stradic FK is available in five sizes to cover most fishing applications and can be used with spinning bobbins.
The following table shows five different models and some important aspects of performance:
Carry-over coefficients and recovery coefficients for line
Shimano Stradic models have a transmission ratio of 6:1.
This is a typical ratio for a high quality bobbin and is universally applicable for typical bobbin spinning applications.
Line recovery rates are slightly higher than normal for these gear ratios, but the larger diameter coils on Stradic FK models increase line recovery rates and are great for catching fish in a boat.
All Stradic FK models are equipped with a 6+1 bearing system.
These include the 6 best rotating drum bearings on the market, the S A-RB, which are shielded on both sides and are extremely corrosion resistant.
All models are also equipped with a Super Stopper II recoil roller bearing, which is absolutely free of play and allows direct hook adjustment, even with a large number of pipes in the water.
Pulling and releasing
All Stradic FK models use a folded front drag system.
Both felt discs and steel discs are used, which, depending on the model, can generate a frontal resistance pressure of 7 to 24 pounds.
For rotating coils, often using a light cable, low starting inertia and constant facial resistance pressure are more important than maximum facial resistance, and Stradic offers operations in both categories.
This technology is not just a trick to sell coils.
The X-Ship technology uses key bearings in the gear system to maintain alignment and proper operation under extreme pressure when working with large fish.
Haganbody and transmission
Hagane’s body and gears are made of high quality, cold machined aluminium.
This gives the Stradic FK a very rigid housing, which guarantees a secure attachment of the machine. This housing design creates a coil that is able to withstand torque and bending, resulting in lower power.
With Hagane’s body and equipment, all power is effectively concentrated on the roll, making the roll more efficient for handling large fish.
The coil of a Shimano Stradic FK reel is made of cold-pressed aluminium and will not warp or bend under normal coil pressure.
For the size of the bobbin there is a large bobbin that can hold more than enough fishing line to meet the requirements of the bobbin fishing situations.
Linear control technology
In the linear control system Stradic uses various new and old technologies that contribute to the incredible performance of the castings.
These technologies include the Shimano Aero Wrap II oscillation system, which moves the line to reduce friction between the windings when the coil returns.
The Power Roller Ii and the Push Line control system increase the distortion distance and reduce headaches associated with coil problems.
Straight inputs and outputs FK
Appearance and control: 5/5
It is a compact reel that offers a large width and more than enough space for freshwater fishing according to forestry standards.
Nothing comes out of the crowd, but we love the silver, the whole metal surface of the coil.
It is well made and has an excellent cold forged aluminum handle that is durable and lowers when you need a little more power.
The 1000 and 2500 models have a small handle, while the larger models use a larger handle with a slightly larger surface area for better handling.
We also like FC Stradic’s binding system. It is well designed and uses a powerful spring to prevent the casting from accidentally closing.
The overall feel and operation of this reel on the model is fantastic and will not tire you after a long time on the water.
The braking system of the Stradic FK models is not the largest ever on the water, but it competes with the high-end rotary drums available on the market.
The maximum resistance of each model is more than enough to slow down a running fish.
What makes us happy with this reel is the softness of the pressure applied to the reel.
On high-end models there may be a small jerk in the towing settings, but that’s only compared to the incredible smoothness of the rest of the towing area.
From 1000 to 5000 you have access to a range of parameters that can be easily adjusted by dragging and dropping using the button on the top of the reel.
There’s virtually no inertia in the beginning, and if the resistance is set right, you don’t have to worry about breaking the line on the big hits.
Gear system: 5/5
What distinguishes Stradic is the transmission system.
Although aesthetics, line control and casting are important, the drive system is the heart of the rotating drums and the most important determining factor for the performance and durability of the drum.
Hagane’s robust, cold-woven gears work even after years of use because they come straight out of the box.
The digitally optimized gear design ensures a perfect fit of the gears, which stay in line, touch each other and rotate smoothly when pressure is applied.
The Hagane body also provides a solid base for the gears. These gears contribute significantly to the fact that the reels are much more efficient and can fish much more effectively than other reels in the same price range.
Another aspect where layered CF models are superior is linear control.
The curse of using a reel is the twisting of a rope, which ultimately prevents casting and the formation of knots and tangles, sometimes deep inside the reel and only after a long time can they be released.
No coil eliminates line slip, but the Aero Wrap II and Power Roller II do the great job of minimizing slip.
Throwing on FC Stradic is a pleasure on the water.
Of course you are limited in distance from the lure, but compared to other spinning bobbins Stradic shines through its distance and smoothness.
Much of Shimano’s technology is incorporated into the injection moulding features, including the drive system and beach control technology.
This reduces the friction between the line and the edge of the coil, which slows down and reduces the number of lines coming out of the coil during casting.
Power of Crystal: 5/5
Perhaps the biggest jump of the Stradic FK in comparison to previous models and even the strongest spinning bobbin.
Although power is often not the power of most rotating drums, Stradic delivers most of it in a pleasant way. This is facilitated by the compact housing and the Hagane transmission system.
If you encounter these coils on larger fish, you will find that you will have no problem working and removing the line. It also increases the service life of this coil.
Measured by the amount of use you get for the price, it could be one of the best investment drums on the market.
The speed of the online search is decent for Stradich. They are more suitable for fine fishing, but you can easily use these reels for bait that requires a higher extraction speed.
What you’ll also find is that the search goes extremely well, whether you’re just looking for your bait or you have a huge little carrot on the other side that you’re shooting at.
You will also notice that the rotor works without any problems. Shimano uses the Dyna-Balance system on its rotor, which ensures that the rotor rotates smoothly and evenly when aligned with the coil.
This counterweight works very well and eliminates vibrations that reduce recovery efficiency.

Who is FC Simano Radio?
Older Stradich models were considered working reels.
The new model offers a robust but stylish drum with features that can compete with high-quality spinning drums without the high price tag.
For newcomers, it’s an incredible coil that can really confuse you.
It’s also a great option for bobbin lovers, and we’re sure they’ll be very impressed with the performance on bobbins at this price.
When to use
Most models are better adapted to freshwater species, although the larger 4000 and 5000 models are more than suitable for catching smaller saltwater species.
These coils are reasonably corrosion resistant but not waterproof, as well as (like the Penn Clash spin coil) spin coils that are specially designed for use in salt water, so they require a little more care when used in salt water.
The model 1000 is an excellent reel for trout and pot fishing, while the models 2500 and 3000 are incredible reels for perch and fine line fishing.
While rotating reels are considered as thin fishing gear, this compact reel makes it possible to pull and feed the fishing line, allowing more powerful fishing techniques that may not be possible with other reels.
